PAN Podium offers the visitors of PAN Amsterdam a varied program full of inspiring talks and interactive presentations. The many diverse art disciplines, the art market and the fun of collecting are central to this. This year, the daily programming will be centred around a different theme, from museums to young collectors and from jewellery to old masters. All fair visitors are welcome to this daily changing programme.

Many female artists have been unjustly overlooked for a long time. Museums are working hard to catch up, but are they too late? In recent years, extensive research has been conducted on policies regarding the protection of national cultural heritage. Executive Secretary and Head of Legal Affairs at the Stedelijk Museum, Martha Visser, will engage in conversation with former D66 leader Alexander Pechtold, PhD candidate Marilixe Beernink, owner of Aronson Antiquairs, Robert Aronson, and art collector and author of the book Art Flipper, Bert Kreuk, about the implications this has for the art trade.

Who made what? This question can no longer be answered simply by looking at a work of art. The material provides clues, and modern techniques are making research into this increasingly feasible. Samuel van Hoogstraten was one of Rembrandt’s best and most famous students. Color also played an important role in creating his optical illusions. THE TRAVELING MAARTEN VAN HEEMSKERCK
Maarten van Heemskerck was the first North Dutch painter to stay in Rome for an extended period. Upon returning to Haarlem, the city of Rome remained his source of inspiration. In connection with the first-ever overview exhibition about Maarten van Heemskerck in Haarlem and Alkmaar, guest curator Ilja Veldman, an art historian and expert on Maarten van Heemskerck, will speak.

CONTEMPORARY ART FAIRS AND THE RETURN OF THE GRAND TOUR
In the past, the Grand Tour, particularly to Italy, was a must for the cultural formation of the aristocracy. In this lecture, economist and cultural sociologist Olav Velthuis will show that international art fairs today play a similar role for new global elites. However, while art travels once revolved around taste, status is now of decisive importance.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS: ARTIST BRAMINE HUBRECHT
In 1905-06, artist Bramine Hubrecht traveled to Egypt. She literally followed in the footsteps of the ancient Egyptians and visited many archaeological sites. Curator at the Rijksmuseum, Anna Koldeweij, will discuss how Bramine Hubrecht drew inspiration from her journey to Egypt.
