Silver

description

The cow shaped finial is a playful reference to the function of this lidded jug. In 1771/72 a fellow Den Bosch silversmith, Anthonius Matthias Suyskens, made a silver milk jug with a hinged lid, surmounted by a realistically tooled figure of a cow. This milk jug is depicted in the publication Zilver uit ‘s Hertogenbosch, p.262, nr. 184.
