m.simons
m.simons is a contemporary art gallery based in Amsterdam, founded in 2021. Through carefully curated, intimate exhibitions, it has quickly built a reputation for its meticulous attention to detail and a strong focus on the formal qualities of individual artworks.
The gallery represents artists whose careers started in the 1990s up to the 2010s, offering a compelling mix of emerging and mid-career talent. This combination enables m.simons to present a dynamic program that is both rooted and offers new perspectives. In addition to its roster of represented artists, the gallery engages with the secondary market, featuring works by renowned international artists, thereby broadening its scope. Its exhibitions have encompassed a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, and video.
m.simons has already placed works in major private and public collections such as the AKZO Nobel Art Foundation, Albert Heijn Art Foundation, and Museum Belvedere in Heerenveen. The gallery's artists have been featured in solo exhibitions across institutions around the world, and are frequently included in prestigious group shows at prominent Dutch museums like Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. Many have also received significant awards, commissions, and public projects.
Founder Michiel Simons brings over a decade of experience in the Dutch contemporary art scene. In the past, he has collaborated with esteemed international institutions and galleries such as Luhring Augustine in New York, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and Yamaguchi Kunst-Bau in Osaka. Currently, Michiel is a board member of the Dutch Gallery Association and serves on the invitation committee for Amsterdam Art Week.
