Modern and Contemporary Art, Sculpture

description

With a background in graffiti and graphic design, Saïd Kinos developed a fascination for typography and various forms of visual communication. He equates the visual experience with language with the functional aspect and is a great advocate of 'post-typography' as an art movement. More specifically, he uses language as a vehicle to explore form, colour and different artistic methods.
Saïd finds an element of abstraction in the subjective associations and differing contexts that can alter the reception of words and messages. Even though the words that can be read share a collective meaning, the mental image that arises when looking at his work will be different for everyone. The interpretation of his textual works are therefore similar to that of abstract art. He explores this element of abstraction through vibrant colour combinations and fragmented typography. Taking visual elements from anywhere he can find and recomposing them in a way to make them his own, Saïd creates his own reconstructed versions of reality through paintings, sculptures, installations, and large (public) murals.
